What a refutation of the disciplinary council, the leaders who called for it, and the church’s actions regarding Bill in general. Thank you to whomever made and shared this recording.
Bill was straightforward and explained things in a way that everyone in the room could understand, whether they had previously been exposed to material that is damaging to the church’s integrity or not. He was sincere and stood with perfect integrity. If only this kind of plain and simple discussion of facts could happen in more venues in the church. Sadly, Bro. Reel had to be on the chopping block–with a captive audience–for those high councilmen to finally hear and start to understand just how deceptive the church has been to them all their lives. My heart goes out to Bill and all those involved in this tragedy.
I couldn’t agree more, RFM, that it must have been staggering for those in the room to hear Bill go on like that for 60+ minutes and rip up everything they thought they knew about the church while maintaining (and them acknowledging!) his complete honesty in the process.
Wow, just wow! I’m predicting an end to full-on high council excommunication proceedings, at least for apostasy charges.
Thank you RFM for posting this “Kangaroo Court” hearing…Bill Reel spoke eloquently, calmly, factually, intelligently, professionally and especially truthfully. I believe he is correct when he told the outside supporters after the hearing, that many shelves will start showing cracks…For someone to be excommunicated, from what I could hear on the defendants behalf, whoever ultimately makes the final decision, are about as confident as the jurors in the O. J. Simpson original trial…The facts mean nothing to these men. Why anyone, from this moment forward, stays in This So Called Church is a mystery to me…Obviously, society as a whole has lost integrity and truth stands for nothing…Why do common hard working people have to go to such extremes to be heard? BECAUSE NO ONE CARES OR HAS TIME TO PAY ATTENTION OR GET INVOLVED…HOW MANY TBM’s ARE ON THE CHURCH’S PAYROLL…UNITE PEOPLE…STAND FOR TRUTH…THE SO CALLED CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS IS A FRAUD…SKIMMING MONEY, MAKING MONEY ON THE BACKS OF SWEET, KIND INNOCENT PEOPLE…THE BIBLE WARNS OF FALSE PROPHETS…YOU’VE BEEN WARNED…NOW YOU’RE BEING TOLD BY ALL THE RECENT EXCOMMUNICATED SINCERE PEOPLE TRUTH YET THE CHURCH IS TRYING TO SHAME THEM…REAL MEN OUT THERE, GROW A PAIR…HATS OFF TO THE BRAVE WHO ARE TRYING THEIR BEST TO SHOW YOU TRUTH…THANK YOU NEW NAME NOAH, MIKE NORTON, TOM PHILLIPS, HANS MATTSSON, MICAH WILDER AND ADAM’S ROAD, MICHAEL AND LYNN WILDER, DORIS HANSON, BISHOP EARL ERSKINE, JOHN DEHLIN, JONATHAN STREETER, YOU WERE AHEAD OF YOUR TIME OPENING THE DOOR FOR THE RECENT FEARLESS AND TRUTH TELLERS SAM YOUNG, MCKENNA DENSON, KRISTY JOHNSON AND BILL REEL…GOD BLESS THIS MOVEMENT…THANK YOU AGAIN FOR THIS POST.
Thank you to whoever recorded this, and thank you, Bill Reel.
Obviously Bill is the one recording. He is lying about it. LOL They only time the recording is clear is when He is talking.
Thank you for this. I am sincerely hoping that this will be the “one step too far” for the Church. The Church is acting like men from the Inquisition. The excommunication document proved that. As someone said, ‘you can’t box with shadows’. Disobey. It is time!
Wow, Bill! You are amazing! Thank you for your scholarship!
I would like to edit this audio down to a digestible and easily shareable audio file. Is the file available for download anywhere? The problem I want to solve is that the current audio file has a lot of empty space, or muffled audio. Most people don’t have the time or patience to listen to it. It could be edited down to just include the best parts that are audible. That way we could share it with others and they might actually listn to it. Please contact me with info if this is acceptable. I have professional audio editing experience.
Truth Tellers List? Don’t forget Kate Kelley. Or as you might put it: KATE KELLEY. 😉
How about Rock Waterman, the Toscano couple? Who more?
What’s that noise? Someone’s guts? Someone breathing through paper bag? I guess the church won’t threaten to reinforce their confidentiality agreement, which will expose the transcript and give it great publicity
Thank you for articulately deconstructing Mormonism in one hour.
The very best of the best deconstruction of the lies and whitewashing extant in current everyday Mormonism I’ve ever heard. And I’m one who reads and listens to everything.
You go Harvey…I sounderstand your passion. BITFDWT
Joyce McKinney who Miss Wyoming USA was the first person ever brave enough to speak out publicly against aversion therapy– which encompassed brainwashing, mind control, and bishop shaming. The Mormon cult controlled your sex drive and who you love and who you marry. So she went to England to RESCUE her fiance from them. After they had a forbidden love tryst at a romantic vacation cottage in the English countryside, the cult leaders threw the terrified young woman into a medieval British prison and then desseminated a press HOAX that the beautiful young blonde had “kidnapped and raped” h8mthe Mormon PR Machinehim. It was a phoney story of course —designed to save the Mormon MISSIONARY IMAGE which netted them over four billion yearly. Her MISSIONARY fiance stood six foot five and weighed over 300 pounds!
My heartfelt thanks is given to those who made it possible for this trial to be shared publicly, shining a honest but seering light on the fact that the Mormon Church prohibits now not even the discussion of such a trial by those who are in attendance, let alone a recording of the proceedings. Cowards one and all.
What exactly, Mormon Church, do you have to hide by not making your excommunication trials public? Could there possibly be facts you are determined to desperately conceal? Yes, it is your corporation which you can manage how you chose to…..and you certainly do so excommunication after excommunication. Honestly, how can such action create and make you feel that you further a loving world? Bill, and so many others who have recently been exed have told you, often with tears, how much they do not want to leave their community, their tribe they love.
Bill, thanks for your boldness, courage, and authenticity. May your road forward be rewarding, exciting and extremely fun and happy.

Bill you are amazing. So glad this was recorded. I love how honest and on point you are. Very well addressed. Sorry to hear they Excommunicated you.
After listening to this interview I wonder who was on trial here. May God have mercy; it is a terrible thing to fall into the hands of the living God, as Paul said.
Surely this church will come around one day; the setting in order is going to happen, as promised in D&C 85, though I think we are to prepare the way for it; maybe this “trial” is part of that preparation.
Thanks for your valiance, and to come forward. We love you – greetings from the Netherlands.

Thanks for making this available to read. So many things to say but I’ll try this: in what manual does it say the purpose of the stake council is to protect the integrity of the church? When Jesus talked about his church, he referred to its people? That stake president made it clear he was protecting the corporation, and at the expense of this brother’s salvation. As a dear friend told me, the church has not been as honest with us as it expects us to be. It truly saddens me that they are deliberately removing the space for critical thought in the church. “It is whatever we say it is regardless of the truth!” Sad and frightening.
So while calling members of the church leadership liars, you lied by recording the proceedings.
What moral high ground are you on?
The same as theirs considering they frequently lie in order to maintain what people believe to be their spiritual roots. Remember Paul H. Dunn? His uplifting stories were all lies, but meant to improve members’ faith. He received no reprimand, but stopped giving faith-building talks. I was one of his fans. After that, I took EVERY story with a grain of salt. Eventually I believed nothing being taught. Word of Wisdom = avoid hot drinks, which in my time meant to abstain from drinks with caffeine not and cold. But NOT decaf drinks because they still had a minuscule amount of caffeine. YET, hot chocolate was being consumed like water. Try looking up the caffeine content of chocolate. The entire WoW was bogus! Abstain from hot drinks, but postum, herb tea and caffeine containing hot chocolate were OK. No Cokes were allowed, but the church could own stock in Coca Cola. When Mark Hoffman offered up a letter he said was from Joseph Smith regarding the White Salamander vision, instead of rejecting it as false, they made a point of both validating it and buying it. That proved that they either did not have the spirit of discernment so often talked about OR they believed it to be true in opposition to the long standing first vision story (of which there are multiple versions). How about Moroni? He’s an angel, right? But he was also a human prior to dying. Why is he an angel? Aren’t angels created beings rather than resurrected humans? And that Great Apostasy? I was also taught that there were three men in the old world AND in the new world who had never died, who were still alive. Then how was the gospel removed from the earth if these six men still had it? So so many things that were in clear opposition to one another. Believing one meant having to disbelieve in the other. Yet, to not believe was seen as lack of faith. Well, believe me, it was this discordant reasoning that cost me what little faith I had remaining. If I were you, I’d take another look at your church history and compare everything you’ve been taught to what’s in that history. “And the truth shall set you free.”
I think the logic would indicate his wife likely recorded it. You are falsely accusing him with out any evidence. Thou shalt not bear witness.
Was it a secret, or did you just not know? I found this article written,to children, in 1974. If we are going to celebrate fact telling, then at least we could agree that the seer stone wasn’t a secret (not known or seen or not meant to be known or seen by others.)
A Peaceful Heart/The Friend Magazine
“To help him with the translation, Joseph found with the gold plates “a curious instrument which the ancients called Urim and Thummim, which consisted of two transparent stones set in a rim of a bow fastened to a breastplate.”
Joseph also used an egg-shaped, brown rock for translating called a seer stone. The translating was done at Peter Whitmer’s home, a friend of the Prophet’s where Oliver Cowdery, Emma Smith (Joseph’s wife), one of the Whitmers, or Martin Harris wrote down the words spoken by the Prophet as soon as they were made known to him.
Martin Harris said that on the seer stone “sentences would appear and were read by the Prophet and written by [the one writing them down] and when finished [that person] would say ‘written;’ and if correctly written, the sentence would disappear and another take its place; but if not written correctly it remained until corrected, so that the translation was just as it was engraven on the plates.”
Even with the help of the Urim and Thummim and the seer stone, it wasn’t easy to translate the sacred record.”
Nephi saw this day: 1 Ne 11: 34 And after he was slain I saw the multitudes of the earth, that they were gathered together to fight against the apostles of the Lamb; for thus were the twelve called by the angel of the Lord.
35 And the multitude of the earth was gathered together; and I beheld that they were in a large and spacious building, like unto the building which my father saw. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Behold the world and the wisdom thereof; yea, behold the house of Israel hath gathered together to fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
36 And it came to pass that I saw and bear record, that the great and spacious building was the pride of the world; and it fell, and the fall thereof was exceedingly great. And the angel of the Lord spake unto me again, saying: Thus shall be the destruction of all nations, kindreds, tongues, and people, that shall fight against the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
I listened and read the transcript twice. Thank you for sharing your experience.
There was an obvious lack of intelligible cohesive sentence structure on the part of the HC.
Brings to mind the (apocryphal?) Galileo comment “and yet it moves,” after his trial by the Inquisition about moons orbiting Jupiter.
In 1983, I was summoned to bishop’s court because I had requested to have my name removed from membership records even though counsel at the time advised bishops to process the request and not pursue disciplinary action. I did not attend figuring the end result accomplished the same thing. But now I’m learning that they should have notified me of the results of the court something they did not do. If there a way I can find out the end result?
I realize your situation is different than mine, but the processes are the same, so I thought I’d ask you. I hope you don’t mind.
Is the transcript somewhere else the links aren’t working. I would love to read the parts that are hard to hear.
I have read it before and it disappeared. I would love to read it again. I thought I downloaded it to Dropbox but can’t find it anymore?
