Radio Free Mormon October 30, 2017 at 3:16 pm Reply Good point! I have a feeling the miracles that occur in the lives of GC speakers are even less miraculous than those that occur in the lives of lay members. rob4hope October 29, 2017 at 11:05 am Reply Everything has become a miracle. Its a cop-out. I recall years ago hearing the testimony of the “keys”, and it was unusually offensive to me this time. I wondered: “Why would the mormon god help a LDS person find their keys, and at the same time ignore a woman in India praying for a cup of rice to feed her starving child?” The LDS justification is: “Well, they weren’t praying the right way.” The LDS perspective describes a capricious god who plays favorites. The idea of Rameumpton jumps off the page and slaps me in the face. The parable APPLIES TO THE LDS! Maybe that starving woman and her child had the faith “NOT to be healed.” Yep…that must be it. Its a miracle! Radio Free Mormon October 30, 2017 at 3:19 pm Reply My favorite was the seventy telling the story a few GCs back of how when he was a medical student he was bicycling down the road without enough money to buy some fried chicken and he finds a quarter on the side of the road and that plus the change he had in his pocket was just enough to buy some chicken. Tender mercies for tender nuggets. Linda de Azevedo October 29, 2017 at 2:49 pm Reply FYI, yet another POV on the Clark Fales Mt. Shasta Accident: http://activenorcal.net/exhilarating-mt-shasta-rescue-at/ Radio Free Mormon October 30, 2017 at 3:29 pm Reply That is really cool! Thanks for posting that, Linda! What incredibly brave people doing that kind of rescue work on a helicopter up at the top of Mount Shasta! Maybe the video was edited or something because I saw only one successful attempt at landing. I wasn’t able to see the first unsuccessful attempt, and then the second unsuccessful attempt, as per the story told by Elder Hallstrom. Might I suggest that we repent and get back in line with the rest of the Church? Or is it too late for that? Radio Free Mormon October 30, 2017 at 3:31 pm Reply “There is a wisdom that is woe; but there is a woe that is madness. And there is a Catskill eagle in some souls that can alike dive down into the blackest gorges, and soar out of them again and become invisible in the sunny spaces. And even if he for ever flies within the gorge, that gorge is in the mountains; so that even in his lowest swoop the mountain eagle is still higher than other birds upon the plain, even though they soar.” Gale October 30, 2017 at 8:03 pm Reply Someone said on another blog that she could read “The Night Before Christmas” every day, but once you realize the myth, you can never go back to believing in Santa again. Radio Free Mormon October 31, 2017 at 10:33 am Reply I like that analogy! Stephen November 1, 2017 at 2:51 pm Reply RFM, thank you for these podcasts. Entertaining, informative, common sensical and uplifting all rolled into one. Radio Free Mormon November 1, 2017 at 9:32 pm Reply Thanks, Stephen! I aim to please! Mike November 2, 2017 at 7:45 pm Reply Third time listen today – this time with my wife who caught me completely off guard with her laughing so hard at the on-point wit you so expertly wield. She cringed a bit when we got to your Erying commentary as she was an Erying groupie having attended BYU-I in the mid-seventies. Both of us are in awe that we drank the miracle kool-aide for so long and how foolish it all sounds now. Thanks for another profoundly insightful and very entertaining podcast. Radio Free Mormon November 2, 2017 at 9:33 pm Reply Thanks for your kind words, Mike! Please give my best to your wife! RFM Ryan Nickel November 5, 2017 at 6:56 pm Reply I really enjoy your Podcasts and the research that goes into them. I know Clark and Holly Fales personally. Clark has received 100% healing and they and their family were at the conference center that Sunday morning during Elder Halestrom’s address. I know there was some doubt as to Clark’s recovery. So I want to set the record straight, that he has made a full 100% recovery. In fact he has attempted to climb Mount Shasta again this past Summer. However the weather was too severe for anyone to make it to the summit. Leave a Reply Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
