RFM having seen Dan Peterson post not one but two blog posts in response to RFM episode #69, revisits Dan obfuscation around having been dishonest about the suppression of First Vision accounts and how Dan is trying to help his loyal followers make sense of his words.

If I heard right Brother Peterson mentioned Dialogue as a source of information he was familiar with. I found a site referring to an article by Stan Larson in Dialogue Summer 2014 called The Three Torn Pages.
Very good podcast. Thank you. I am glad someone is standing up to the misinformation and selective scholarship by Mormon apologists such as dan Peterson. I enjoy listening to RFM and I am glad he is not too busy to tackle these issues. Ha ha.
This has been so amusing at so many levels! what continues to amaze me is the way that so many in the church claim that there has been no suppression, which is nearly always followed by “…in the last 50 years.” Even that smug Dallin Oaks tried that in that youth fireside.
Well, as a member for over 60 years now, and a person that was a STRONG believing, McConkie-type mormon up until a few years ago, I can tell you that I really cannot recall any conversations where multiple first-vision accounts were discussed, let alone the “missing” account. It truly has been tap-danced around for those 50 years.
There must have been some fairly large blow up about that “find” in the late 60’s and 70’s, since it seems that the only articles or apparant discussion of this account that church leaders/apologists cite come from that era. I would love to see a comprehensive list of all church published/sanctioned articles on this first vision account. I can pretty much guarantee that there are precious few, and again, more likely from the 60’s and 70’s. And until the internet made all this information much more readily available, maybe a couple of articles in the last 10 years.
Yup, I have never robbed a bank…..until the last time I robbed a bank….maybe 50 years ago!
Danny Boy is one the more amusing figures in the church. I’ll just say I know people who work with Dan and they…tolerate him.
LDS.org suppresses information. A blatant example is the conference talk “Turning the Hearts” by Hartman Rector, Jr.
The text does not match the actual talk. Any reference to political issues has been removed, without notice, from the text but left in the video. Unless you listen and read together, you would not know the text has been changed. It’s very frustrating and leads me to not trust LDS.org as a source.
BOOM!
