This Week RFM and Bill Reel takes a deeper look at the an old allegation that has been dragged out once again by critics against John Dehlin. And specifically the facts and documentation surrounding the case. And what do they find…… but that the claims the alleged victim seems to contain two major discrepancies. One is her motivation which seems riddled with blackmail and manipulation and the other seems to strike at the heart of her claims, namely her allegations countered by her very own text messages.

Just a note that Ex E appears to have the personal phone numbers of people that I assume might prefer them to be redacted. Not sure if that was an oversight, but wanted to give a heads-up.
Good catch, Ryan!
I notified Bill about the situation.
Thanks!
RFM
Thanks for taking down my questions that I posted on the youtube video, after taking the time to listen to the whole thing and take notes. I’m disappointed that you and Bill, the masters of probing questions, don’t seem to like them pointed at your work. My respect for you two has been destroyed.
Your work was sloppy, didn’t fit the timeline and you know it.
Time to start thinking about the women. I won’t be here again.
I honestly have no idea what you’re talking about.
Yep, like RFM, I’m lost too. W. Wood I’m not sure you and I listened to the same thing.
E Wood – Could you be more specific here?
Thank you guys for doing this in defense of John. You are stardust, you are golden!
Dear Jack,
I appreciate your sentiments, but I have to tell you what I tell everybody who thanks me for defending John.
I wasn’t defending John.
I was doing my best to get long-hidden facts and evidence into the public view so they could be taken into consideration in the broader conversation on the subject.
As it turned out, that evidence tended to help John’s case, I think.
But there were other things in there that were not particularly flattering to John.
My goal was to try to get closer to the truth of the matter through an examination of the evidence.
That will always be my goal.
Thanks for your kind words!
Not coming down on you.
Just trying to be clear.
RFM
I was quite impressed how Reel and RFM kept the discussion centered on the available evidence as possible with minimal speculation. There are not a lot of people that could have done this topic so well.
Thank you so much, VFanRJ!
That was what I worked very hard to try to accomplish.
If that is what you took away from it, then I feel like I succeeded!
Nice podcast clearing the air. I always wondered about the allegations, never articulated but always voiced. The evidence here and the actors involved are credible and decisive. I applaud you in weighing in such an arena, as the “wokeness” attending these topics is pure insanity. McMullin just came across my FB friend suggestions and I perused her feed. There’s definitely an obsession with Dehlin, and again a voice to abuse, but not a presentation. I’m satisfied with my opinion, so thanks for the content on this podcast. You guys rock.
Thank you for the kind words, Rex!
Bill and I wouldn’t have gotten involved in this subject except the flames are being fanned into a conflagration by certain parties at the current time.
And also we happened to have access to certain documents that bore on the issue and two witnesses who were tired of keeping mum on the whole affair after nine-years of “Rosebud” constantly bringing it up every chance she gets.
O wow…I had no idea about any of this. How incredibly sad and tragic for everyone involved, especially Margie and their children. I wish I didnt know. It just goes to show that we are all human and these kinds of mistakes are just never worth the endless grief they seem to generate.
I hope that it can be resolved for everyone’s sake, but with social media throwing gas on the fire, its little wonder it hasn’t been put to rest the way it would have been in past times.
Its unfortunate that this will and has been used to undermine John’s work and credibility in the Mormon and post- Mormon community…whether there is anything to this or not.
At the very least, just having been unfaithful to his wife, all on it’s own is nasty enough.
We listeners have come to love and care about all of these people …and will continue to do so.
God Bless.
Great comments, Angie.
This is what I meant above about not all the information that came out was favorable to John Dehlin.
For instance, you had heard nothing about it and are finding out about his “emotional affair” from ten years ago for the first time through this show.
I especially liked your “…and will continue to do so.”
When we find that those we love and care about have made mistakes, and even serious misjudgments and actions, it can be very disappointing.
But hopefully our love for them is not conditioned upon their being perfect, yanking it away when we find out they are not.
That’s what the LDS God does.
Not compassionate people.
Thank you RFM…it was very clear in this podcast that it was your intention to stick as impartially as possible to disclosing the facts , without editorializing….and Bill followed your lead.
The fact that you are all friends at least in the post mormon podcast world, did naturally already put you in the position where one could assume by inference that you were taking John’s side , when, whatever evidence itself was favourable to him, all on its own.
You seemed very mindful of that reality possibly undermining the credibility of the evidence presented. I appreciate therefore how carefully you chose your words.
Jacks well meant comments needed to be addressed by you as you did. 🙂
The RFM Bill Reel duo is a match made in Heaven or Hell depending on your perspective. Anyway, great collaboration and as always highly entertaining.
Selfishly, it was perversely comforting to hear that their organization’s board of directors had to deal with a very dicey situation rearing its head 9 years later in the age of wokeness. Two employees having an alleged affair that ends badly, especially if one was in a position of power, is not fun for the employer to deal with. Employees generally have to find another job, the guy signing paychecks pays out the ***.
If you decide to serve on a board, nonprofit or for profit, make sure you are indemnified. Normally D&O insurance is part of the compensation package but I’m also told it’s limited to errors and omissions and not always as comprehensive as you think. Sadly, folks will sue at the drop of the hat. You can prevail in court, but that won’t cover your legal fees.
You know, there is a big difference between sounding smart and possessing good judgment. Public figures and adultery mix like urine and manure in the barnyard. Same goes for employers. Perceived deep pockets attract all kinds of people.
I appreciated the time you and your guests put in to this sensitive topic. I have empathy for both parties involved.
